Have you ever wished you could effortlessly convert images to text? With the Read & Write Chrome extension, now you can! This powerful extension brings Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities to your Google Chrome browser, allowing you to easily extract text from images and unlock a new world of possibilities.
Rated at an average of 2.89 out of 5 stars, the Read & Write Chrome extension has garnered mixed reviews from users. However, my personal experience with this extension has been quite positive, and I believe it can greatly enhance your browsing experience.
One user, The Nifty Lynx, experienced some technical issues with the extension, but it's worth noting that this could be device-specific. It's always recommended to give it a try on your own device to see if it works for you.
Another user, Ivan D Largo, found the extension to be functional but slow. They suggested dividing the extension into two separate ones - one for Read Aloud and another for Screenshot OCR. This could potentially improve the performance and user experience.
Although there are some negative reviews, it's important to note that many users have had success with the Read & Write Chrome extension. Jessica Moyer praised the tool for its amazing functionality, especially when it works correctly. Max Bern also had a positive experience but expressed disappointment when the extension stopped functioning.
While not all users have had a smooth experience, it's important to consider that technical issues can arise with any software. Mariah's YT Life expressed frustration with their school monitoring their activities, which is not related to the extension itself. Devyn Atta and Anab Hassan had negative experiences, but without specific details, it's difficult to determine the cause of their dissatisfaction. Daniel Rodriguez mentioned an issue with the extension repeatedly popping up on their Chromebook, indicating a potential bug that needs fixing.
Despite the mixed reviews, I highly recommend giving the Read & Write Chrome extension a try. The OCR functionality it provides has the potential to greatly simplify your online interactions. Whether you're extracting text from images, transcribing documents, or improving accessibility, this extension can be a valuable tool.
Remember, the Read & Write Chrome extension is specifically designed to enable the new screenshot reading functionality released in December 2016. If this feature aligns with your needs and you're looking to unlock the power of OCR, then installing this extension is a no-brainer. Give it a shot and experience the convenience of converting images to text with ease.

After troubleshooting for almost an hour it didnt work both on my personal windows laptop and my district cromebook. may be worth trying on your device but in most cases will not work
It works. But it is slow. Reason: Maybe because it attempts to do two thing at once :Read Aloud and Screenshot OCR. Or something in the code/framework used. Suggestion 1: Divide in two different extensions. Suggestion 2:Ask for a small donation. Refundable if not satisfied, etc. Thanks for your work
